Financial hardship can be a prime obstacle for continued student success. Finding money to finish college can be difficult for many of our students. Many community college students transferring to other colleges/universities may be unaware of scholarship opportunities available to them that could ease their financial burden.
With that in mind, Gadsden State Community College has developed a Transfer Scholarship Guide listing scholarship opportunities available around the state. The transfer guide provides information on criteria for transfer scholarships, deadlines, and direct links to admissions applications, scholarship applications, departmental/competitive scholarships, etc. at each institution.
For some institutions, transfer students must submit an admissions and scholarship application, while at other institutions, transfer students are automatically considered for scholarships upon receipt of their admissions application. For the majority of four-year institutions, the deadline for submission is March 1st. There is no way of knowing exactly what a student will be awarded until one applies and is accepted to their college of choice. But, it is safe to assume that if a student meets certain criteria, scholarship opportunities are readily available. With deadlines rapidly approaching, it is imperative that students get applications submitted in order to take advantage of these awesome opportunities. In addition, all transfer students should ensure that they have registered with the STARS Transfer Guide (http://stars.troy.edu/stars.html) to remain up to date and current on program and institution specific transfer requirements.
Gadsden State is pleased to announce that The University of Alabama is offering two Presidential Scholarships to deserving students. One scholarship will be awarded to a student from the Gadsden service area and one scholarship will be awarded to a student from the Anniston service area. The scholarship will cover the cost of in-state tuition for four semesters, as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA. Students must have an earned Associate's degree from Gadsden State, have a 3.5 GPA, never previously attended UA or any other four-year institution, and must be admitted to UA by March 1st. If you are interested and qualify for this UA scholarship, please complete the attached Transfer Scholarship Application Form by February 9th. Information can be typed directly into the form. Completed forms may be submitted via email or mailed to Ms. Tammy Morgan (Naylor Hall 212, Wallace Drive Campus, email@example.com) or Ms. Cindy Greer (Office 1225, McClellan Campus, firstname.lastname@example.org).
Please feel free to contact Ms. Morgan or Ms. Greer if you have any questions regarding transfer scholarships.
